How long does it take to get a continuous discharge certificate?

Processing times vary by flag state and how complete your documents are. Applying through an experienced agency, such as for a Panama Seaman Book, is usually the fastest way to avoid delays and rejected paperwork.

Does a CDC certificate expire?

Yes. A CDC has a validity period set by the issuing authority and must be renewed before it expires. You should also keep it updated with every signing-on and signing-off entry throughout your career.
